Send large files directly, peer to peer
Free P2P file transfer in your browser. No upload, no sign-up, no size limit — the file goes straight from your device to theirs.
Direct transfer — the file never touches our servers.
How peer-to-peer file sharing works
There's no upload step. Your browser and theirs connect to each other, and the file travels between them.
Pick or drop any file, of any size. It stays on your device — nothing is uploaded.
Send the link, let them scan the QR code, or read out the 6-character code.
Their browser connects to yours and the file transfers directly, encrypted the whole way.
Send large files online without uploading them
Cloud transfer services make you upload first and cap the size. A direct transfer skips both.
No file size limit
Send a 50 GB video as easily as a photo. Nothing has to fit into cloud storage first.
No upload wait
The receiver starts getting the file as soon as they accept — no waiting for an upload to finish.
Nothing stored
The file never lands on our servers, so there's nothing left behind to delete.
End-to-end encrypted
Every transfer is encrypted between the two browsers.
Fast on the same network
On the same Wi-Fi, files move at the speed of your local network.
Free, no account
Neither of you has to sign up or install anything.
Transfer files between any devices
It works in the browser, so phones and computers can send to each other whatever system they run.
Android to iPhone
Send photos and videos from Android to iPhone (or back) without an app or cable.
PC to phone
Move files from a Windows PC or Mac to your phone by scanning the QR code.
Windows and Mac
An AirDrop-style transfer between Windows and Mac, without being on the same Wi-Fi.
To anyone, anywhere
The receiver can be in another city — share the link and they're connected.

P2P file transfer questions
What is P2P file transfer?
Peer-to-peer (P2P) file transfer sends a file straight from one device to another instead of uploading it to a server first. UploadEx connects your browser to the receiver's browser, and the file travels directly between them.
Is there a file size limit?
No. Your browser reads the file piece by piece while it sends. On computers it's saved straight to disk as it arrives. Some phone browsers, like Safari on iPhone, keep the file in memory until you save it, so very large files work best on a computer.
Is peer-to-peer file sharing safe?
Transfers are end-to-end encrypted between the two browsers. We only keep the file name and size for a short time so the receiver can see what's coming, plus the details the two browsers need to find each other. The file itself never reaches our servers.
Do both people need to be online?
Yes. Your tab has to stay open until the transfer finishes, because the file comes from your device. If they need to download it later, upload the file and share the link instead.
How do I send files from Android to iPhone?
Open this page on the Android phone, choose the file, and scan the QR code with the iPhone camera (or type the code on uploadex.net/send). Tap Accept on the iPhone and the file transfers directly. It works the same from iPhone to Android.
Is this an AirDrop or Snapdrop alternative?
Yes. Like AirDrop or Snapdrop, files go straight between devices. The difference is that you don't need Apple devices or the same Wi-Fi network — anyone with the link or code can receive, wherever they are.
Is it free?
Yes. P2P transfers are free and need no account. The file doesn't use any storage on UploadEx, so there's no quota to count against.
Why can't it connect sometimes?
Some office, school and mobile networks block direct connections between devices. If that happens, try another network — for example mobile data instead of office Wi-Fi — or upload the file and share the link.
How long do the link and code work?
They work for 30 minutes while your tab is open, for one receiver. Once the transfer finishes or you cancel, they stop working.
Which browsers work?
Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Samsung Internet on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone.
